A Tribute to a Valiant Warrior

November 21, 2023 was one of the most agonizing days of my life. My grandfather passed away and for the very first time, I experienced an indescribable pain.

My granddad was a quiet man who allowed his actions to speak volumes. He was very devoted to God and was never ashamed of his faith in Jesus.

He loved others well and served them with grace and compassion. In honor of his memory, I wrote this poem to my valiant warrior and devoted grandfather:

To a valiant warrior,

Thank you for your unwavering devotion to the Lord.

Thank you for loving my grandma, my mom, my sister, and me unconditionally.

Thanks for all the moments where I laughed till I cried and heard about all your experiences.

Thank you for your compassion for others and for always serving people with grace.

Thank you for showing me that having faith in God is worthwhile and that resilience comes from having hope in Jesus.

Thanks for fighting hard in the last days of your life, even when the pain got unbearable.

Thanks for the warm smiles when I greeted you, for the long chats in the veranda during the summer, and for consistently answering my questions about God and your life.

I will always love you granddad & ensure that your legacy continues.

Rest in peace in the arms of your Savior. 🕊️
